Let us help get your yard back in to shape this Spring. Lucas Landscaping offers various services that make your yard stand out from the crowd. Our clients typically request that Trim, Edge and Mulch work be done at some point in the spring or early summer to help get the property looking its best. We stock various mulch products. All of our mulch is natural and seems to fit in with the landscape compositions much nicer than other types.
We have a large dump truck available to drop off and deliver up to 20 yards of mulch at once. We can drop off the mulch for the do-it-yourselfer or provide the installation service. Mulch installations typically run $55.00 per yard installed. Depending on the situation and access the price may vary slightly. It is always best to give us a call and let us take a look first to determine the best/most economical solution for your property. Please feel free to contact us to set up a site visit. Estimates are free for Deep Creek Lake and surrounding areas.
Over the past few years we have been noticing that many homeowners are increasingly frustrated with the seemingly neverending maintenance requirement involved with keeping your mulched planting beds looking fresh. For a more permanent solution, we have been utilizing landscape fabric and river rock in place of (or in a pleasing combination with) wood mulch products. We typically use a 3" diameter (multi-color) river rock that really looks great and requires almost zero maintenance over a span of several years. Aside from raking the leaves off in late fall or early spring...there isn't really anything else that needs to be done to keep the stones looking neat. Our river rock comes from natural river beds located in West Virginia that contain a very nice color blend that fits and accents any existing landscape. River Rock is sold by the ton and is available in various sizes. If you prefer the smaller gravel size stones we can easily deliver. Rive Rock has also become popular for the construction of drainage swales that resembe a dry creek bed.

No precast masonry product quite compares with the final look you get from natural stone for your low retaining wall, flagstone pathway or river rock planting areas. Ancient civilizations utilized natural stone construction for all of their monuments and structures...many of which still exist today. Lucas Landscaping specializes in obtaining beautiful natural stone for these purposes and more.
We typically stock large quanties of flat and rectangular shaped natural stone that is hand picked for wall building purposes. Some of the stones are light enough for one person to lift....others can weigh up to a few tons and require the assistance of our skid steer to maneuver them around. Natural Stone construction requires a certain level of skilled labor for it to turn out right. We like to think that we build some of the nicest ones you will see with reasonably tight joints and stones that seem to fit like they were made for the purpose. Call us today to inquire about Natural Stone construction. All of our stone blends beautifully with the natural stone found around Deep Creek Lake.
The flagstone pathways that we build are great when used to access different areas of a landscape design and we use stones large enough to prevent movement/wobble and washout. In a recent project we used the natural flagstone to build a ground-level pathway between two separate paver patio areas. The flagstone added a nice visual variety and helped blend in the paver hardscape with the natural environment.
After installing a project, Lucas Landscaping wants to be certain that the final product matches the design intent and cost established at the beginning of our project timeline. Every project starts out with an estimate appointment to try and determine a starting design budget and intentions that will drive the landscape project until completion. At this initial meeting it is critical to discuss project budget, completion timing, as well as material likes and dislikes. After a basic discussion covering these topics our Landscape Architect can make intelligent design decisions on the drawing table that pull all of this information together in a beautiful custom master plan.
In some cases a homeowner or client won’t know the first thing about where to start. In this situation we can take a rough budget figure and turn out a couple different options that may or may not be installed in the end. Daniel Lucas is willing to sit down and sketch out as many ideas as it takes to make you comfortable with the proposed plan.
After the design is finalized and approved by the client, we will discuss the construction timeline. Armed with a projected start date and completion date our client can better plan personal events and scheduling around the construction zone.
During construction we will work daily to ensure that the project is completed on time and on budget. You won’t find many other companies where an educated Landscape Architect (Daniel Lucas) is on the job daily working alongside the crew. This is one of the major things that sets Lucas Landscaping apart from the competition.
After the project has been completed, the client and designer will do a project walkthrough to go over detailed aspects of the installation. At this point the jobsite will be cleaned up and prepared for the final unveil. All dirt and debris will be removed from the jobsite, surfaces will be washed free of dust such to provide the fresh new appearance that our clients expect. When our mess has been cleaned and trailers pulled away, we typically take some project completion photos and who knows, your project may even be featured on this website. Ultimately, we want the client to be satisfied completely at the end of construction.
Take a look at the table below for approximate pricing on various landscape materials. Keep in mind that if something isn't on the list, more than likely we can get it for you. Our mulch is the best looking mulch around....period. It retains its dark color for longer than other kinds and the texture compliments plantings and masonry perfectly. We recommend applying a thin coat of mulch annually, each spring for a neat and clean appearance. Our farm is located in Oakland, Maryland, if delivery is farther than 20 miles ( Deep Creek Lake ), additional delivery charges may apply. Canaan Valley deliveries will add an additional $100.00 (flat delivery charge). We do offer volume discounts...call for custom pricing. Below pricing is based upon smaller quantities not to exceed 6 ton load. Call with questions 301.616.0638.
